Make Sense visiting Sputnix: how the technologies of the future are created

The Make Sense team visited Sputnix — a Russian developer of innovative space technologies and a resident of Skolkovo.

It was an amazing opportunity to go behind the scenes of microsatellite production and learn how small devices are changing the way we think about space missions.

Space is getting closer

Sputnix specializes in creating high-tech components for satellites, as well as services based on them. Their solutions are applied across various fields — from telecommunications and the internet to energy, agriculture, and shipping.

One of the company’s key areas is the development of Cubesats. These are compact satellites measuring 10×10 cm, usually launched into space in groups of 3 or 12 units. Despite their miniature size (weighing only 4–16 kg), they offer powerful functionality and are used for scientific, educational, and commercial purposes.

Photos from space — now a reality

It turns out some Cubesats are equipped with screens and cameras, allowing anyone to send their own image into space and then receive a unique photo from orbit. This is not just a technological experiment, but a new format of personalized space services!
